From Jane Gussin Dear Judith, Thank you for the accidental email. Very good green article you wrote, extremely thorough.
I always think about the waste, when working on a movie set- recently asked the craft table person about all the recyclables (especially the water bottles and soda cans), and he was discouraged, as they had tried separating the garbage, but found people didn't really adhere and pay attention. I told him that the message really had to come from the top to help enforce it, as he didn't seem to have the clout to wake everyone up.
An initiative should be made to communicate this to the Directors, 1st and 2nd ADs etc., on all movie and TV production. That being said, I'm working on a video I shot interviewing people selling green products. Surprisingly, one of the people I interviewed who's company refines bio-diesel fuel, ventured that the next area of product development might be algae!
I'm a member of NYWIFT, have shot and edited the NYWIFT panel discussions here in NYC, and have the Kids in the Biz video running on the Traction site: http://magazine.women-in-film.com/video/kids1.html
Keep up the good work! Best,
Jane Gussin |
