Women in Film and Television – Toronto (WIFT-T) Announces 2008 Kodak New Vision Mentorship and Call for Applications ( TORONTO – Wednesday, July 16, 2008) Women in Film and Television – Toronto ( WIFT-T), in partnership with Kodak Canada Entertainment Imaging, is pleased to announce the 2008 Kodak New Vision Mentorship and Call for Applications. The Kodak New Vision Mentorship is a national initiative that is presented annually to one emerging Canadian female filmmaker. The award offers the invaluable opportunity to prepare for the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) through intensive industry coaching and a post-festival creative mentorship. The winner will hone her creative and business skills in the upcoming months with established Canadian filmmaker and senior executive Laurie May, Co-President of Maple Pictures Corp. "Through this award Kodak reaffirms its commitment to talented filmmakers,” said Sadia Zaman, Executive Director of WIFT-T. “The award helps filmmakers make the leap to that crucial next step.” “On behalf of Kodak, I am very pleased to continue our partnership with WIFT-T in sponsoring the Kodak New Vision Mentorship,” said Johanna Gravelle, Kodak Canada Entertainment Imaging, Country Manager. “The support of an industry leader like Laurie May is once again offering her valuable time and experience confirms the importance of the Kodak New Vision Mentorship in nurturing the talent and vision of Canadian female filmmakers.” Each year, WIFT-T announces a Call for Applications for talented candidates who have at least one film (short) screened at a major Canadian film festival and a minimum of one feature film project in development. The award winner receives the following benefits: $5,000 in-kind donation of Kodak Motion Picture film stock and digital camera valued at $500 Preparation for the 2008 Toronto International Film Festival with Laurie May One-on-one, two-month post-TIFF mentorship with an established director Complimentary TIFF registration and access to professional seminars and training at the festival Announcement of mentorship winner at the WIFT-T Reception @ TIFF on September 11, 2008 at the Park Hyatt, Toronto Guidance for post-TIFF follow up Award presentation at the Crystal Awards Gala Luncheon on December 1, 2008 Fully completed application packages must be submitted to WIFT-T by Tuesday, August 5, 2008 at noon EST.
