come on drag the old stand-by out. women leave to have babies and the numbers go down. Or...they leave, that's why no-one (?) wants to give them a break. jeez.

I find this to be so disturbing. I HATE IT when anyone assumes that women will leave their occupation (regardless whether or not it's to have a child or just to leave). I've been working as hard as I can to do what I have dreamed to do - and I will not leave my dream behind.
The topic of women leaving to have children really drives me crazy. Yes - women are the bearers of children - and yes some time is needed to heal from squeezing a watermelon out of a quarter. There are some women who decide that being a mother is more important than a 9-5 job and that is a beautiful thing. But I can't stand it when people assume that all women will follow that same path.
Women work crazy hard - harder than any man I've ever known or will know - read the book THE SECOND SHIFT - that will really get your guns a blazin'.
Every job in any job market is a "man's job" and women have had to carve their way into being treated equally in the workplace. Women still make less than a man doing the exact same job!!! It makes me sick!
And for you men - some information here - men get up and leave their jobs too. Oh yeah - they won't admit it because it's not manly to admit it - but men leave to. MEN WILL LEAVE!
So I guess the question isn't will women leave - instead it's will women continue to pursue what is rightfully theirs? Will women stand up against the threat of inequality and assumption? Will women fight for their dreams, ambitions, and the opportunities to do what is in them to do?
I am a young woman filmmaker and I fight everyday for the chance to be heard, noticed, and rightfully respected as an artist in an industry that only recognizes men as the alpha creator.
So - will women leave - HELL NO! I'm here to stay!
