About NYWIFT
Mission Statement
New York Women in Film & Television (NYWIFT) is a nonprofit membership organization for professional women in film, television and new media. A champion of women's rights, achievements and points of view in the film and television industry, NYWIFT is an educational forum for media professionals, and a network for the exchange of information and resources.
NYWIFT brings together more than 1,700 professionals including EMMY and Academy Award® winners, who work in all areas of the entertainment industry — above and below the line. It is part of a network of 40 international women in film chapters, representing more than 10,000 members worldwide.
NYWIFT...produces over 50 innovative programs and special events annually; advocates for women in the industry; and recognizes and encourages the contributions of women in the field.

KIDS IN THE BIZ
Working with child actors can present a challenge. Whether you're an agent, producer, writer, director or concerned parent , how do you help talented youngsters grow successfully in the acting profession?
NYWIFT assembled a panel of agents, current and former child stars and parents to tell you what you need to know about child actor's education, school activities and personal development. They discuss the ins and outs of industry regulations and the one question that looms large; what happens when the child actor grows up?
Maggie Bruen (moderator)
Dayci Brookshire is an actress and singer who has appeared in film, television, theater and commercial productions. She has appeared in several independent films including the shorts Sex and Camping and Yin/Yang. She had a small role in Woody Allen's Everyone Says I Love You. Her regional theater credits include A Chorus Line and Sideshow for Old Playmakers at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Nancy Carson, owner, Carson-Adler Agency, represents young performers. An expert in her field, she advises the Actor's Equity Association's Children's Committee, actively working for the rights of professional children. Carson helped set the standards requiring tutoring for children on tour and on Broadway and was a leader in the non-traditional casting of children. Her book, Raising a Star, is a parents' guide to helping kids break into theater, film, television or music.
Patricia Bruder Debrovner started her career singing on the radio show Rainbow House, before appearing on Juvenile Jury, both on radio and television. She played Flora in the national company of The Innocents. On Broadway, she appeared in Lace On Her Petticoat and the original production of Gypsy. Off-Broadway credits include The King and the Duke, Living the Life and The Sap of Life. She also played Ellen Stewart on As The World Turns from 1960 to 1995.
Brandon Hannan is the 13- year-old son of Helen Proimos. His stage debut was as a dancing doll in Mary Poppins; his mom played Mrs. Banks. He played Roger in Everything In the Garden; mom portrayed Mrs. Toothe. He has appeared in student and independent films. TV pilots include The Murray Hill Show, Gagsters and the behind-the-scenes of The Bubblebuds Animation. Hannan just landed a role on The Sopranos.
Helen Proimos began her career as stunt double for Anne Heche on Another World and also appeared on One Life To Live. She has acted in and produced indie films - The Signs Of The Cross, Austin's Angels and A Merry Little Christmas. Proimos sings for a doo-wop group, produces the cable show, The Relationship Journey, and is in post-production on a documentary. She also coaches her 13-year-old son and manages his acting career.
